“What is life?
It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath
of a buffalo in the winter time. It is the little shadow which
runs across the grass and loses itself in the Sunset.”
CROWFOOT (Blackfeet Chief),
1890, on his deathbed
At the very centre of the Pavanis spectrum lies the theme
of nature and balance, denoted by the colour green. In the
chakric system, green is the colour of the heart: the point
where our sense of self, altruism and spirituality meet. Traditionally,
the heart is said to be the seat of courage and love. Dating
back to the times of Aristotle and Pythagorus in Ancient Greece,
love is said to be what makes the world go round. The idea
of the music of the spheres, produced by the motion of the
planets, also dates back to this era.

Whilst valuing the almost
miraculous degree of technological progress over the last
century or so, the Pavanis outlook is that the natural world
and environment are to be approached with respect and humility,
and that people are part of the natural world, not separate
from it. In this way, Pavanis strongly resonates with traditional
Native American values – mankind, nature, the animal
kingdom and the heavens are one, all part of a sacred whole.
For this reason, sessions
with Ravenna are conducted out-of-doors as much as possible,
and clients are encouraged to spend time in nature on their
own, either walking, or clearing their minds through meditation
and breathing in clean air. Time spent out-of-doors allows
nature to give us healing directly – for example through
beauty, extra oxygen and the colours of nature themselves.
It also puts us in touch with another aspect of balance in
nature – the need for regular clearouts, both of ourselves
and our surroundings.
